Dental Support
Oral health care as well as smile designing is done in our dental division. Oral health maintenance and smile designing needs the interaction of various dental disciplines like orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, conservative dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Orthodontics
Orthodontic treatment can help fix the patient's teeth and set them in the right place if they are irregularly positioned in order to gain better esthetics and function. The entire face profile of the patient is focused rather than focusing only on teeth during the orthodontic treatment. After a course of active orthodontic treatment, patients will have to wear retainers, which help to maintain the teeth in their improved positions while surrounding bone reforms around them. The retainers are generally worn full-time for a period, anywhere from just a few days to a year, then part-time (typically, during night times) for as long as the orthodontist recommends.

Endodontics ( Root Canal Therapy)
Teeth which are discolored or have a large cavity(caries) need specialised treatment called root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is done to save the tooth without the need of extracting the infected tooth. The infected pulp(nerve) of the teeth is removed, roots are cleaned internally and sealed and a dental crown is inserted over treated tooth. The crown is color matched to the color of the adjacent teeth.

Prosthodontics
Adult patients may lose teeth for many reasons such as decay, gum disease or trauma. Such lost teeth can be replaced by fixed dentures(bridges), implant retained dentures or removable dentures to restore lost or missing teeth. Such dentures help to achieve restoration of appearance and occlusal function.

Periodontics
Healthy gums(gingiva) are mandatory for good oral health and dentition. Accumulation of tartar and plaque affects the health of the gums and the underlying bone resulting in loose teeth. They can also lead to halitosis(bad odour). Systemic diseases like Diabetes exacerbates gum disease. At an early stage, Gum diseases can be treated by simple cleaning procedures by scaling and root planning. This is done by an ultrasonic device which cleans above and below the gum lines. The interdental areas are also cleaned by this method. But if the disease has become severe then surgical procedures may have to be undertaken to help clean the teeth and improve the gingival health. Grafts may need to be placed to either the bone and/or soft tissue in certain instances.
