Scalp Replant

Replantation
Ring avulsion Injuries

A special type of digital amputation involves ring avulsions,  this type of injury happens when the ring in the finger accidently gets caught in some sharp object or hook, for example while getting down from a bus.  The ring pulls the soft tissue beyond it and it remains attached to the avulsed part of the finger.  The soft tissue of the finger is partially or totally avulsed from the underlying bone.  Replantation of such avulsed skin envolope is one of the most dificult of surgery.  If successful this type of replant much better function and a good cosmetic result than an amuptation.

Scalp Replantation

In our country where the preference is of keeping long hairs, especially ladies,  there is always risk of these hairs getting entangled and pulling off along with the scalp .  As in the case of finger replantations ,  scalp replantation offers a result far superior to other types of reconstructions of this defect.  The entire scalp can be put back and the tiny artery and vein can be rejoined thereby restoring  its blood supply back.  Successful scalp replantation results in an excellent cosmetic appereance with good return of hair growth.
