Ganga Microsurgery Training Institute

'The age of the self taught micro surgeon is over’, thus said Harry Buncke a decade ago.
It is stressed that basic skills of Microsurgery if perfected in the laboratory, makes clinical work easy with high success rate. Laboratory must have excellent microscopes, quality instruments and  a good working environment.  To provide this facility to the aspiring trainees in Microsurgery, Ganga Microsurgical Training Institute was inaugurated.  Carl Zeiss, S&T and Ethicon supported this venture.

This institute has completed its second year of trainingyoung microsurgeons.  The course is now recognized by the Indian society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.  The feedback received from all our trainees has convinced us that our effort and time spent in setting up this venture is worthwhile.

Most of our trainees went on to do the first Replantation and free flap in their region.  To make the course more flexible we no longer have fixed dates.  The trainees can now attend this course at a mutually convenient time.  Most of the trainees stayed on for some more time after the week long course, to learn the philosophy and gain practical insight of reconstructive microsurgery.
