Ganga Microsurgery Training Institute
'The age
of the self taught micro surgeon is over’, thus said Harry Buncke a decade
ago.
It is stressed
that basic skills of Microsurgery if perfected in the laboratory, makes
clinical work easy with high success rate. Laboratory must have excellent
microscopes, quality instruments and a good working environment.
To provide this facility to the aspiring trainees in Microsurgery, Ganga
Microsurgical Training Institute was inaugurated in 2002. Carl Zeiss,
S&T and Ethicon supported this venture. The institute offers the basic microsurgery skills course to aspiring surgeons seeking training in the practical aspect of microsurgery
The course is also recognized by the Indian society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. The feedback received from all our trainees has convinced us that our effort and time spent in setting up this venture is worthwhile.
About The Course
To make the course flexible and convenient to the trainees it is now conducted throughout the year. The dates can be arranged at a mutually convenient time . The course runs for five days starting at 9AM and ending at 5PM every day. The trainees get to view Aclands microsurgery videos and also work on laboratory rats and under microscopic guidance. They get used to dissection of vessels and vessel anastomosis including end to end, end to side and inter positional grafts for both arteries and veins.

"It has gone beyond expectations. I am now confident to start microsurgery back in UK from next to no experience it was good mainly because
1. Few delegates.
2. 1 delegate per microscope.
3. Lots of time to practice.
No didactic teaching except a very informal video. I would recommend this course to anybody who would do microsurgery. It’s never too early and in fact, I think it should be made compulsory for all relevant trainees worldwide."
