Ganga hospital, Coimbatore is a 420 bedded specialty centre for Trauma Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery and  Plastic Surgery.  Apart from Trauma in which both specialties are interested, the Orthopaedic dept has special interests in Spine surgery and the Plastic surgery department has special interests in Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery. The total number of inpatient surgery per year is over10,000.. The Department of Anesthesiology has 4 senior consultants,4 Junior consultants, 2 Senior Registrars and 5 Registrars. The Department of Anesthesiology is offering a six month Fellowship Programme in Trauma and Regional Anesthesia.
The aim of the Fellowship is to provide training in management of trauma patients, including receiving and transport of polytrauma victims, resuscitation of polytrauma patients, anesthesia for trauma surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, spine surgery and joint replacement surgeries. The trainee will have ample exposure to various regional blocks including use of ultrasound and peripheral nerve stimulator,placement of perineural catheter,central neuraxis blockade, general anesthesia for major polytrauma cases and post operative management of trauma patients including management in the intensive care unit. We are looking for well motivated, hard working young people who have just finished their Anaesthesia training(MD/DA/DNB) enjoy challenging work and are academically oriented for this Fellowship. The course faculty include the senior consultants Dr.C.Sekar, Dr.J.Balavenkat and Dr. Prabhu Chinnaswamy.
